How to get to PROJIMO

The two PROJIMO projects are in two villages about 30 km. apart, an hour or so north of Mazatan, Sinaloa, Mexico:

PROJIMO Rehabilitation Program,

in the village of Coyotitán, Sinaloa, 66 km north of the coastal city of Mazatlan, Mexico.

Coordinators: Mari Picos and Conchita Lara

Calle Constitución #105, Col. Las Huertas
Coyotitán, Sinaloa, Mexico CP 82990

E-mail: "PROYECTO PROJIMO" <PROJIMO_AC@hotmail.com>

Telephone: From the USA dial: 011 (52) (6969)-62-01-15

By car. To get to PROJIMO Coyotitan drive north from Mazatlan toward Culiacan (or south from Culiacan toward Mazatlan) on the "libre" road (not the coastal toll-road superhighway) to Km 66 and turn east at the sign that says Coyotitan and San Ignacio. Drive about 1 km through the small town until you see a rehab playground between a few buildings on your left. There is a small sign that says PROJIMO. Ask for the coordinators Mari Picos and Conchita Lara.

By bus. You can take a bus from the Mazatlan bus terminal (Central de Autobuses). Take any second or third class bus going north toward Culiacan on the "libre" road, and ask to be let off at the Coyotitan junction. Often there is a taxi at the junction that can take you to PROJIMO (El Proyecto de los discapacitados.) Buses from Mazatlan destined for San Ignacio, San Juan, or Ajoya take the Coyotitan turn-off and can drop you right at PROJIMO.

By air. If you are arriving at Mazatlan by air, you may be able to make arrangements with PROJIMO (by phone or -mail) to be picked up at the airport. Or you take a cab or van (cheaper) to the bus station, and go to Coyotitan by bus.

PROJIMO Children's Wheelchair Making Program,

in the village of Duranguito, Sinaloa, 75 km north of Mazatlan, Sinaloa

Coordinator: Raymundo Hernandez

Duranguito, near Estación Dimas, Municipio de San Ignacio, Sinaloa, Mexico

Telephone: From the USA dial: 011 (52)(6969) 62-53-15 (or 16, or 17)

By car. To get to Duranguito, drive first to the Coyotitan junction (see above) and continue north on the main highway another 7 km and take the turnoff toward Dimas, to the left. Drive about 12 km and take the turnoff with a small sign marked Duranguito, to the right. Drive 2 km to the small village. On the far end of the village ask anybody for the the "taller de sillas de ruedas." (wheelchair shop).

By bus. There are one or two second class busses a day that go from the Mazatlan bus terminal directly to Duranguito. Enquire about the schedule at the terminal.

From PROJIMO, Coyotitan, Duranquito is only about 20 minutes away by car. You may be able to arrange a ride with the PROJIMO driver.
