A Seat to Help Daniela Gain Better Balance and Control
Three-year-old Daniela and her parents came to the SLF Workshop. PROJIMO had already worked with Daniela. Marielos, a disabled young woodworker, designed a special seat to help Daniela sit better and improve her balance. The seat-back can be adjusted to 3 different positions:
The seat includes a tray, a bar with hanging toys to stimulate eye-hand control, and a cardboard foot-separator.
1. The lowest position holds her hips firmly, so that she must use her back muscles to balance her body upright.
2. The upper position supports her back, to hold her in a good position when eating or playing.
3. An optional head-rest can be raised, to give more support, when she wants to rest.
